MRH CELEBRATES WORLD TUBERCULOSIS DAY

Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the most prominent mycobacterial diseases known to human kind. It is one of the infectious diseases causing high mortality rate among Filipinos. The Department of Health (DOH) tries to eradicate the disease that is why, “WORLD TB DAY CELEBRATION“ happens every 24th day of March every year. The main objective of the event is to increase awareness about the nature of the disease, how to treat it, and what measures an individual, a family and a community will take to prevent the occurrence of the disease.

Margosatubig Regional Hospital (MRH) spearheaded by the active Chief of Hospital- Dr. Richard B. Sison, MHA., and with the active participation of the Health Education Promotion Officer (HEPO)- Madame Nona C. Galvez, RN, MN., celebrated the said event with the theme; “NO TB IN MY LIFETIME”. The said affair held activities that everyone in the community would benefit from it. These activities were focused on health teaching to barangay health workers, barangay nutrition scholars, tricycle drivers, high – risk persons and to those people who were present during the said affair. It was an honor that the Mindanao State University-Buug College level II nursing students took over some of the activities especially in the health teaching.

HATAW NG BAYAN

Margosatubig, Zamboanga del Sur – Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2012 was marked with a special celebration at the MARGOSATUBIG REGIONAL HOSPITAL through a “HATAW NG BAYAN” spearheaded by the Public Health Unit Office headed by Ms. Nona C. Galvez. The activity was conceptualized in consonance to the Department’s order underscoring February as a Heart and Healthy Lifestyle month.

The celebration was further emphasized with the RED SHIRT CAMPAIGN: FOR A HEART HEALTHY AND FRIENDLY LIFESTYLE. Different sectors and agencies were invited to participate in the said activity with the goal of promoting consciousness among Margosanon’s on the significance of a Heart Healthy and Friendly Lifestyle. All participants wore red shirt or polo shirt reflecting the theme of the activity. Ms. Wyeth Saberon, Ms. Judy Reales, Mr. Hassanal Mamayog, and Mr. Michael Salvador of the MRH were the HATAW Leaders for the event.
